R and B

MATH     We played a hide and seek rocket game that practiced counting and identifying numbers 12-20. Using bears and a bucket, we continued to practice identifying/writing numbers.
SCIENCE     A huge thank you to the P.T.O who sponsored Mother's Nature program. The topic was recycling and was very age appropriate with practical applications for the children. The three R's--- recycle, reuse, and reduce were defined and applied. Also, we learned a recycling song in music class.
Dr. Jordan, Leora's uncle, talked to us about dental hygiene. We played Tic Tac Tooth and all the children received a bag of "tools" for brushing teeth!

SOCIAL STUDIES     While discussing recycling, we talked about "saving our earth" and how certain actions harm our environment.

CIRCLE/LANGUAGE    The letters "R" and "B" were introduced. A rhyming game was played where the children had to identify  pairs of rhyming pictures. Individually, I practiced rhyming words with children.I practice sequencing with them when we completed a bedtime routine page.  I also did oral language exercises. We played an oral language game using the song "B-a-n-a-n-a-s". It was challenging but they asked to play it again and again.  Our book sharing was enjoyed by all. The children did a great job of presenting their favorite books.

ART      Hand print rooster stick puppets were made. After reading the book, we created our own Rainbow Fish. They are very detailed and the children were excited about how they looked. After reading the book, The Magic Rocket (Kroll), we made rockets using foil. This activity corresponded to a portfolio page that was a dictation of ideas. Brown bears were painted and the face created using the upper case B, pom-poms, and markers. Using droppers and liquid paint, we made coffee filter butterflies.

BOOKS/SONGS      "Run, Run, Run", Rooster Can't Cock-a-Doodle-Do (Gruber), The Mixed Up Rooster (Edwards), Rainbow Fish (Pfister),Rainbow Fish Discovers the Deep Blue Sea (Pfister), Alphabet Riddles (Joyce), "It Had To Be B", The Magic Bed (Bumingham), Polar Bear Past Bedtime (Osborne),

SHABBAT   For the past two Fridays, Jonah and the Whale was our topic. Jonah and the Whale (Amery) was read and "sequenced". This week we defined Havdalah and explained when it occurs.

CELEBRATIONS     We celebrated Donnie's 5th birthday and enjoyed delicious cupcakes. Thanks to Donnie's family. A huge thank you goes out to Leora's uncle, Dr. Jordan!                         .

REMINDERS   Tzdekuah needs to be refilled for some students. Thanks!  Preschool Art Show is scheduled on Wednesday, May 11 from 5-6:30. Conferences are now being scheduled for March 10 and 11.
